From Wedding Dress to Memory Cushion: A Family's Story

A beautiful cushion made from a wedding dress

Some garments are too precious to ever part with. A wedding dress, holding the memories of a special day, is one of them. We recently had the honor of working with a family to give a mother's cherished wedding gown a beautiful new purpose, long after the ceremony was over.

Preserving the Details

The dress was made of beautiful ivory satin and delicate lace. Our first step was to carefully deconstruct it, preserving every intricate detail. The lace appliques, the pearl buttons, and the softest satin panels were all set aside, ready to be thoughtfully incorporated into a new design. We consulted with the family to ensure the most meaningful parts of the dress were featured prominently.

"It wasn't just about saving the fabric; it was about honoring the promise and the love it represented."

We crafted two memory cushions, one for each of the daughters. The front of each cushion featured the delicate lace overlay from the bodice, while the back was made from the smooth, comforting satin of the skirt. A single pearl button was stitched into the corner of each as a final, meaningful touch.

The Final Touch

Before shipping, each cushion was carefully wrapped in tissue and placed in a presentation box. The family told us the unveiling was an incredibly emotional moment. Now, instead of being stored away in a box, a beautiful memory from one generation has become a treasured, huggable keepsake for the next.
